Service Description
Western Montana boasts one of the largest concentrations of wintering birds of prey in northwestern United States. The Mission Valley, located about 55 miles north of Missoula, and 20 miles south of Polson, is a concentration area for these birds. This workshop is limited to only 14 people. Thirteen species of diurnal birds of prey winter in the valley, including; EAGLES: Bald and Golden; FALCONS: Gyr, Peregrine, Prairie, Merlin and Kestrel; ACCIPITERS: Goshawk, Coopers, Sharp-shinned; HARRIER: Northern Harrier; BUTEOS: Red-tailed, Rough-legged, and occasionally Ferruginous Hawk.

Event Description: Raptor Workshop 2026 Basic Event Info Dates: Jan8–12, 2026 Location: Missoula, Mission Valley, Flathead Valley, and Montana mountain passes Venues & Lodging: Doubletree by Hilton Hotel (Missoula) and Ninepipes Lodge (Charlo) Organizer: Owl Research Institute (ORI) in partnership with Wild Planet Nature Tours What’s Included in the Price: Lodging (as listed in itinerary) All meals from dinner on Day 1 to dinner on Day 4 Ground transportation during the tour Meal gratuities Guide services provided by ORI researchers and tour leaders Not Included: Airfare to/from Missoula Airport departure taxes Phone calls, laundry, personal expenses Alcoholic beverages (unless otherwise specified) Refund & Cancellation Policy 120+ days before departure: Deposit refunded minus $200 fee ($50 if transferred to another ORI tour within a year) 120–90 days before departure: Deposit non-refundable; balance payments will be refunded Fewer than 90 days before departure: No refund available Full refunds provided only if ORI cancels the tour Alcohol Policy / Legal Disclaimer Meals are included but alcohol is not listed as included in the program. If alcohol is purchased separately by participants, please note: The legal drinking age in Montana is 21. Valid photo ID is required for purchase or consumption of alcoholic beverages.
